The mate gourd is made from regional south American squash (pumpkin) style that requires careful process of drying, it is very important to cure it before use.
The natural gourd is a carefully selected and beautifully handcrafted by regional artisans in Argentina with alpaca trimmings on the top and bottom with with an elegant German silver engraved. Keeping the traditional mate design, using high quality materials, finished with a nickel silver (Alpaca) for perfect base support.

How to Cure a gourd mate :
*A well-cured mate is essential to enjoy this amazing infusion.
*Fill the gourd with used yerba mate or new (not to the top) and moisten it with warm water, letting it sit for a day or two.
*Remove the yerba with a spoon and lightly scrape the interior.
*Finally let the mate dry and repeat the process for 3 days.
*It is ideal to repeat this process until the mate will be well cured.
Care Instructions:
*After drinking mate all the yerba need to be throw away, don’t let there for a long period of time.
*Avoid using soap or detergents that can affect the natural flavor.
*Don't store it upside down.
*The gourd is not dishwasher safe.
*It's vital to cure these gourds to seal the exposed pores to prevent mildew and cracking.
How to prepare a good Mate?:
*For a sweet mate add two spoon of sugar inside with the yerba, if not, just the yerba then, cover the top with your hand, invert it and shake it vigorously to mix the ingredients.
*Return it to its normal position, making sure that the yerba has been placed on one side of the mate, creating a cavity on the other wall of the container. Pour water into this cavity. Wait about thirty seconds for it to be absorbed, repeat the operation and then insert the straw into the moistened part. Now you are ready to just Enjoy it ♥
*The water should not be warm or boiling. The ideal temperature for mate is 70 to 80º C.
Notes: we are not responsible for any damage caused after you cured the mate, the yerba mate leaves can stain the inside of the gourd during curing process resulting in a dark brown color of mildew , which is normal, you are responsible for taking care your mate.
