This is not a mass-produced mate. Each Torpedo Mate is individually handcrafted in Argentina by a highly selective artisan who works slowly and in very limited quantities.

The artisan personally travels to Uruguay to select each natural calabash gourd, choosing it for its rounded shape, proportions, and quality. Each gourd is then wrapped in specially selected cured natural leather, resulting in an exceptionally smooth, soft, and refined finish.

Every section of leather is hand-cut and hand-stitched, including the distinctive base, which is individually shaped to follow the natural contour of the mate.
The artisan also collaborates with a skilled orfebre (metalsmith) who creates the exclusive ornamental virola. This piece is finished with two engraved brass accent rings, beautifully combining silver and warm golden tones.

Precision in Every Detail
Each mate is carefully checked for level, alignment, balance, and symmetry throughout its construction and personally inspected by the artisan before completion.
Because every calabash is natural and every piece is made entirely by hand, no two are exactly alike. The mate pictured is the exact piece you will receive.
